Our investment in Recall, an AI-powered knowledge management platform, aligns perfectly with our mission of investing in category-defining founders.

Recall stands out in the crowded landscape of knowledge management tools by effectively addressing the challenge of information overload, and here’s why we decided to invest.

Solving the Information Overload

We are inundated with content from various sources, such as podcasts, videos, articles, and PDFs.

Traditional tools often fall short in helping users efficiently manage and retrieve this information.

Most of us have used Evernote, Apple Notes, Microsoft OneNote, Notion,  Roam Research, Obsidian, or just saved PDFs in folders.

Recall offers a smarter solution, powered by  AI-driven summaries, automatic tagging, and personalized knowledge graphs.

This platform automatically organizes and categorizes content and helps users retain and uncover insights, making it a unique and indispensable tool for knowledge workers.

Mission-driven Founding Team

The founding team of Recall combines technical expertise, customer obsession, and a clear vision for the future.

Paul Richards, the CEO of Recall, is an avid content consumer.

Despite trying every trending knowledge management tool out there, he consistently found himself spending more time meticulously crafting and categorizing his notes, only to forget about them when he needed them most.

When his frustration reached an all-time peak, he decided to take matters into his own hands.

He leveraged his background in knowledge graphs in the cyber security industry (one exit as a full-stack developer at Maltego) to build his ultimate solution.

But a year later into his project, he wasn’t sure if he should continue. So he posted a thread on Hacker News titled "A tool to help you remember shit you are interested in".

Within 24 hours, the thread went viral, and Paul had his answer. He decided to turn his pet project into a real company.

His co-founders Igor Gligorević, a true 10x engineer from Serbia, and Sankari Nair, with seven years of experience at Uber as former Head of Analytics, quickly joined him and got going.

We recently sat down with the team in Amsterdam for a workshop and couldn't be more excited about supporting these impressive founders.

They are great at keeping their heads above water in more ways than one!

Unique Competitive Edge

Recall’s approach to building personalized knowledge graphs gives it a competitive edge over legacy tools like Evernote and OneNote.

Its user interface allows users to add content seamlessly without worrying about storage and labeling.

What is particularly impressive is how Recall handles summarizing content and performing searches in multiple languages.

This feature is ideal for multilingual knowledge workers who consume content in various languages and want to retrieve it regardless of the original language.

And this is just the beginning.

The vision for Recall is to move away from passive knowledge management and towards active intelligence management. The key differentiator is the focus on utility

Ensuring users consistently extract value from Recall through curated content recommendations and always on learning.

With Web3's growing adoption, Recall is also well-positioned to integrate Web3 features later, further emphasizing its commitment to user data ownership, privacy, and monetization.

The Blockchain Founders Capital team has already incorporated Recall into our tech stack to manage our daily information influx.

Conclusion

Recall’s innovative solution to information overload, impressive early traction, and visionary team make it a compelling investment for us.

We are excited to support Recall's mission to become the leading personal knowledge graph for individuals and companies, transforming how we effortlessly manage and discover digital content.
